Basically, the Muse™ harness is the evolution of the Canyon Light series. It is replacing it.

We took the feedback from thousands of dog owners who had purchased the Canyon Light harnesses and improved the design of the Muse based on it.

We made the decision to steer away from making a great general harness for neighborhood walks and decided to make the best dog harness for hiking & backcountry.

With the Muse harness, we want to go back to the essence of what a great dog harness for the outdoors should be. We tried to kept the look minimal while packing a ton of functionality in it.

In the chart below, we will be comparing the Muse harness to the Canyon Light harness. We will not compare the Canyon Pro as it is significantly different and acts as a car safety harness.

Key Differences between the Muse™ harness & the Canyon Light Series

Functional Improvements

• First of all, you will notice that the Muse harness is now the equivalent of the Canyon Light Extended. The extension can no longer be removed. This has the following benefits:
  
  
• Increased stability. The Muse harness will embrace your dog's unique shape much better.
  
• The Muse sits at 370grams for the Medium size which is about 15% lighter than the equivalent Canyon Light harness.
  
  
• Clear armpit region. The 2nd girth strap keeps the harness away from the armpit area. This allows your dog to move freely.
  
  
• The top handle no longer utilizes magnets to keep a low-profile. The design of the handle itself causes it to be low-profile saving some weight and complexity.
  
  
• Both versions features a neck buckle on every version and sizes. That way, if your dog has a wide head, or if she doesn't like when a harness is passed over her head, the Muse is the perfect option for her.
  
  
• The Muse harness features simplified leash attachment points at the back of the harness and on the belly. On the Muse, the leash can now be clipped directly to the loop itself.
  
  
• We deleted the reflective accents on the Muse harness. This decision comes from the fact that if your dog is hiking or in the backcountry at night, reflective will be of little use. We believe that our PitchBlack® safety light will do a far better job of keeping your dog visible.
  

Design Improvements

• The Muse harness is the first ever Säker® product to feature our brand new LoonSkin™ fabric. Designed to mimic the freedom of flight, it offers effortless flexibility and durability, allowing your dog to move naturally. It is coated with a durable dirt and water repellent.
  
  
• On the Muse harness, all straps are now 1 inch (25mm) wide making the harness lighter. 
  
  
• The sizing of the Muse harness is slightly different from the one of the Canyon series. The sizes are now XS, S, M, L instead of S, M-L, L-XL. You can access the sizing corner of the Muse harness here.
  
  
• The pads of the Muse harness are thinner and made of the LoonSkin fabric allowing them to embrace your dog's shape perfectly.
  
  
• On this new Muse harness, the chest pad is designed to be inserted within the belly pad. This causes the whole harness to be more stable without sacrificing the ability to adjust the overall length of the belly pad.
  

Dog Pack Improvements

• The Muse harness does not come in a "Dog Pack" version. If you wish to transform your harness into a dog pack, you will need the Pouches 001 upgrade. 
  
  
• The Pouches 001 are featuring a new style of "bounce buckle" that is significantly simpler to attach. The new bounce buckle will prevent the packs from moving up and down as your dog is hiking or running.
  
• The Pouches 001 feature the same internal mesh pockets that the Canyon Dog Pack featured.

Accessory Improvements

• The new Muse harness has a dedicated loop on top of the harness (near the base of the neck) for the PitchBlack® Safety light.
  
• The Muse harness works very well with the latest K911® Rescue Sling (launched in March 2024). It also works with the original Rescue Sling, but it is not as friendly or easy to use.

Durability Improvements

• We've swapped the D-rings on the top and on the chest of the harness. These new D-rings resist a load of 763 lbs each while weighing only 3grams. Their tubular design also makes them soft to the touch with no sharp edges.
  
  
• Our LoonSkin fabric is abrasion-resistant to extend the life of your Muse™ harness.
